Rexhep Ferri, painter, professor and writer, was born in Kukës (Albania) in 1937. In 1958 he graduated from the high school of Art in Pejë. In 1962, he published the poems from the cycle Tired Walkers in the literary magazine Jeta e re in Pristina. In 1966 he graduated from the Department of Monumental Painting at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. In 1970, he finished his postgraduate studies at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. In 1971, he received the December Award of the Assembly of Kosovo. In 1974, he was elected a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Pristina. In 1975 he won the prize of the Spring Salon for painting of the Association of Figurative Artists of Kosovo. In 1999, he was elected secretary of the Arts Section at ASHAK and in 2000 he was elected a regular member of ASHAK. Critics have highly appreciated his works in the artistic aspect. He has also published several collections of poems, as well as several novels.
