The Collection of the National Gallery of Kosovo
The National Gallery of Kosovo was founded in 1979 as a cultural institution for the collection, preservation, study and presentation of outstanding works of art in all fields of art.
For these 40 years of activity, NGK has organized hundreds of national and international exhibitions which have been followed by many publications and the purchase of hundreds of artworks from which a large portion have been donated and a very rich collection has been formed. The NGK contains no less than 900 works.
The collection's exhibitions were visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors, including many international delegations. Prominent personalities from both cultural and political life were present among these visitors.
The gallery's collection contains works from the oldest, dating from the 60s to the late 20th century, to international artists, including many well-known names from world art history.
Works in the collection of the National Gallery of Kosovo
NGK's collection is quite rich and includes various techniques and mediums such as painting, sculpture, graphics, drawing, cartoon, design, photography, installation and video. NGK has tried and is trying to protect the collection as best as possible and one of the ways is that future works of the collection will be exhibited and viewed by others.
We hope in the future to improve conditions, create the means for its enrichment and invest in preserving the heritage of contemporary visual arts, which is more than necessary for the responsible institutions to plan to build or establish a Museum of Arts. Contemporary, where the permanent collection will be carried.
